Ctrl+Alt+Delete: Rebooting Science Communication for the Disinfo Era

For generations, humanists have been the public’s greatest guides to scientific wonder. From Carl Sagan’s poetic cosmos to Bill Nye’s energetic classrooms, these heroes have helped millions fall in love with science.

But we’re not in Sagan’s world anymore. Algorithms prioritize conspiracy over curiosity and science is drastically politicized. The next leap forward in science communication must do more than inform—it must connect, inspire, and rehumanize. In this session, Christian Loyo explores where we go from here. Drawing from his work as a biologist, a poet, and a public communicator, Loyo will share a vision for how we can reinvent science communication for a disoriented digital era—by embracing storytelling, cultural identity, artistic collaboration, and radical accessibility.
